The day of the handshake is long gone. Your work on behalf of a client **demands **a written contract in order for the intent between the parties to be well understood when things do not go well on a job. You need to read the contract if it is being supplied by your client for your signature. You have to pay close attention that the Insurance requirements are not requesting more Insurance Coverages than you have unless you have understood the cost for such and have put this into your bid that proposed job. Be aware that the Indemnification/Hold Harmless Agreements, Warranty Periods, Penalty Clauses and the like need to be well understood before you blindly sign that Contract because you are so anxious to earn new business.
